Five Acts

+ Post a list of your five favorite acts/kinks to read about. Check out this list if you need some inspiration. At the bottom of your post, add what fandoms/pairings you're interested in.
+ Read other people's lists; the master list of lists is here.
+ Post comment-fic based off of other people's interests.

1. Outsider POV. Not necessarily voyeurism, although it could have that element. Mostly I just like it when some third character ponders/notices stuff about the main pairing, maybe that they're together or maybe that they should be, maybe why they make sense or that they don't.
2. Non-canonical universes. What if xyz had happened this way instead of that way, what if they were librarians, what if time travel, what if the TARDIS or some wizards suddenly showed up. I guess it's kind of a cheat to lump AUs and crossovers in like that together, but I love anything that takes them out of normal canon in whatever way and I'm really not that picky about it.
3. Frottage. Clothes on, clothes off, clothes anywhere in between, dirty-desperate or slow-romantic, doesn't matter as long as it's face to face and grind-y.
4. Competency. Maybe they're a BAMF in a fight, maybe they're great at piano or making pizza. I love it when a character gets to have their mad skills appreciated, especially if said skills are a turn-on for someone else.
5. Friends-to-lovers. That point in a comfortable awesome practically-married friendship where the MFEO finally gets acknowledged.

Fandoms/pairings
Supernatural: Dean/Castiel, Sam/Dean, Castiel/Balthazar (RPF preferably in AUs only or French Mistake-type universes - Jensen/Misha, Jared/Jensen), whatever threesomes. ETA: OH, AND DEAN/JIMMY NOVAK. YEP.
The Walking Dead: Daryl/Glenn
CSI: Nick/Greg
Downton Abbey: Thomas/Branson
Crossovers: Anyone from the above fandoms mix'n'matched with anyone from another. This also applies to Ianto Jones, Simon Tam, and Xander Harris.

Fills!

3, 4 and 5 are right up my street.

I write frottage far more often than I write anything else because I find it easy to set up various scenarios. So much intercourse is written as "slot A in slot B," and I think writers (including me) have a difficult time making such scenes sound fresh.

Downton Abbey. Have got to see that.

Mad skills — like Jeeves speaking French, perhaps?

Oh, you would LOVE Downton Abbey. I mean, it's kind of a ridic soap opera at times but there is a canonically queer (and very pretty) servant and has awesome period stuff. I can't remember if you ever watched any Upstairs Downstairs but it's basically that except with a cooler butler.

I have realized that I'm not really that into writing super-graphic sex scenes, but when sexytimes happen I always seem to go for frottage first, because a, I like it, and b, I've read too much stuff where penetration gets treated as this kind of be-all-end-all and I'm ornery like that. XP

Oh, and Jeeves is pretty much the living breathing embodiment of my competency kink, hahahah. <3

My library is getting "Downton Abbey," and I intend to join the wait list for it. My town is geeky about Victorian anything, so I'm sure the list is a long one. I donated my copy of "The Barchester Chronicles," and you'd have thought I'd just handed over the key to Gringott's.

Yeah, the penetration scenes are just ducky if the writer is good — a few people on my flist are aces at it. But there's something to be said for the simpler acts because for me, they focus more on the emotional rather than the physical.

Oh, Storyson and I bought a pinhole camera kit. We'll let you know how that goes.

OMG PINHOLES!!!! :D Is it one of those build-it-yourself cardboard ones? I got my grandfather one a couple of xmases ago but I don't know that he ever used it. :P I am not super well up on pinhole stuff but I've done a little and know a lot of resources, so if you need any advice, let me know! April 29th is World Pinhole Day, you know. :D And I definitely want to see pictures!

I'll probably be begging for help, believe me. We're putting it together tonight so he and a pal can hopefully take pics tomorrow. It comes with a little diary so you can keep track of exposure, subject, etc., and I'm going to enforce its use so we can why we're getting the results we're getting.

Oh, and it's made of a lovely cardboard.

I assume it comes with some kind of guidance as to how long to expose, but from experience I'll say that nice sunny daylight is the best condition to shoot in if you don't want to do a bunch of weird math. The coolest thing about pinhole is that it has infinite depth of field, so you can get super crazy close to stuff and everything is in focus. I hope you guys have fun with it! :D
